Curriculum Planning
At Phoenix our blended curriculum was designed by our subject leaders and practitioner in Curriculum Hubs. Our blended curriculum hubs enable practitioners to develop ideas and understanding beyond their specialisms, ensuring all staff are able to see the bigger picture for all pupils.
Our Whole School Blended Curriculum Hub documents are the overview for the year, which details the overarching themes, stimulus and core texts that will be used throughout the year to engage pupils in the learning, and includes a brief description of the learning that the children in each year group will be achieve by the end of the academic year. This planning ensures that there are varied and thoughtful stimuli for learning in place in order that a rich and engaging curriculum is provided for pupils. These documents also provide an overview of coverage and the portable skills and their stages of progression in each subject throughout the school.
Practitioner Planning
Weekly planning identifies clear learning intentions and steps to success to help children achieve the learning. Higher order questioning is planned for to extend children’s thinking, as well as clear differentiation to enable all children to achieve the learning. The role of all the adults and how they will support the learning is also identified on this planning.
EYFS
Phoenix Primary warmly welcomed our first EYFS cohort this year and we are eagerly planning ahead for next year as we begin to structure our learning for the new KS1 department. Our curriculum will amend over the year as we form the KS1 curriculum.
It is an exciting time for Phoenix EYFS, not only is this our first cohort but we are also an Early Adopter of the new curriculum. The non statutory curriculum guidance supports the delivery of the revised early years foundation stage statutory framework. It offers a top-level view of how children develop and learn, and guides, but does not replace, professional judgement. Throughout the year you will see our curriculum document develop as we embed the new reforms and our own bespoke curriculum that illustrates the progression of skills at Phoenix.
